Listening Tree is a counselling consultancy and training service dedicated to improving emotional well-being and mental health in children and young people in areas where there is currently no other support available. This is done through a comprehensive package of services designed to educate and support both children and young people, as well as the adults around them. We are a Community Interest Company, meaning that whilst we have to be sustainable, we are a ‘not for profit’ company.

We pride ourselves on being friendly and approachable, and our services are designed in a person centred and integrative, therapeutic framework. Our counsellors and therapists use a wide range of both talking therapies and creative interventions. Through their therapist clients experience a positive relationship in which they can form healthy attachments and in so doing have the safety to explore their inner worlds and begin change.

As Bowlby maintained:
“The therapist strives to be reliable, attentive, empathic, and sympathetically responsive to his client’s exploration, and also to encourage his patient to explore the world of his thoughts, feelings and actions.” (2005:172)

Our school based counselling and training services are designed to strengthen and fit within the existing pastoral system of a school. We develop a bespoke package for each school through initial meetings with Senior Leadership and pupils where the needs of the school can be assessed and clear guidelines for referral developed.

All our counsellors and therapists are fully trained and registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and are on their Accredited Voluntary Register. The counsellors operate within the BACP ‘Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy’.
