Attachment and Building Resilience

How children form attachments in their early stages of development has a huge impact on their ability to form relationships, attachments and managing their emotions. By developing an understanding of attachment styles and theories we can start to understand some of the challenging behaviours that may present and be better equipped to support the child when needed and also put strategies in place to assist the child to make positive attachments in the future.

  • Develop an understanding of attachment theory and styles

  • Recognise the impact of unmet needs of attachment

  • Develop awareness of the impact of trauma, separation and loss on child development

  • Strategies to work with children with insecure attachments
