Supporting Emotional Health and Wellbeing

This course is designed to help employers in supporting positive mental health and wellbeing in the workplace. In the wake of Covid 19 it has become even more important for employers to support positive mental health and wellbeing in what is often a dispersed workforce. The course helps to create an environment in which staff feel safe to talk about emotional health and wellbeing and managers feel confident and equipped to listen and respond.

Course Objectives

  • To understand what is meant by Emotional Health and Wellbeing

  • To explore the impact of stress and anxiety in the workplace

  • Using active Listening skills to support honest conversations around health and wellbeing.

  • To explore the importance of resilience in building positive mental health

  • To build self-care strategies.


Self-care

  • What do we mean by Mental Health and Wellbeing?

  • Exploring emotions.

  • The importance of self-care when working in supporting roles.

  • Building resilience.

  • Recognising stress and burnout in care professionals and support staff.

  • The importance of professional boundaries for self-care.

  • Creating our own ‘Wellbeing First Aid Kit’ including:-

    • Mindfulness

    • Relaxation exercises

    • The importance of debriefing or supervision
